Anthropocene Coasts: a new academic journal devoted to the estuarine andcoastal research

Ladies andgentlemen: good morning.
Please let me take this opportunity to provide a brief introduction to our new academic journal Anthropocene Coasts, which is devoted tothe estuarine and coastal research in the Anthropocene period. As pointed out by President Chen Qun, this historical period is critical for the social andeconomic development. Therefore, the journal is concerned with multidisciplinary studies on the regime shift in response to concentrated humanactivities in the world estuarine and coastal regions, with the background of climate change.
The manuscripts submitted to the journal are anticipated to report high quality data setsconcerned with new domains of physical, chemical, biological and anthropogenicprocesses, to develop new observation/monitoring and modeling/simulation techniques, and propose new thoughtful ideas and theories. The research topics with a potential of engineering/social applications are also encouraged, such as coastal environmental evolution in relation to intensified human influences,the dynamics of ecosystem product and service, coastal infrastructure safety,coastal urban development and its consequences, changes in hazard patterns, and case studies on coastal sustainability.
As we know, the journal will be published soon jointly by the East China Normal University andthe Canadian Scientific Publishing. Before this, we are going to formulate the editorial board: there will be two Editors and around 45 board members. It should be noted that whether or not the journal will be successful depends on the effort and support of the authors, especially young scientists. We hope that the researchers will use this platform to present their new scientific findings.
